    Mark Aquilino and Todd Wheatley spent countless hours this summer organizing a fishing tournament unlike any other. They brought together veterans on the seacoast with the Yankee Fishermen’s Co-Op, a local fishing group, for a multi-day competition to catch the heaviest tuna.

    On October 13, 2020, Swim With A Mission presented Liberty House Veterans Transitional Living with a check for $1,000,000 to break ground on Phase II of Mission Renovate and Restore. This money will help create a much anticipated recreational center that will enable Liberty House to help their residents along with 1,000 community Veterans who live off-site with critical services unable to be offered during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Swim With A Mission awards The Currier Museum with more than $700K to expand programs for veterans

    The museum is one of 10 recipients of the grants, which are aimed at helping veterans cope during the pandemic and beyond. The art programs for veterans and their families started out as a pilot, but thanks to the grant, they will now have a permanent home.

    The $717,500 grant was distributed by Swim With a Mission, a group that has taken a leading role in distributing $4 million of federal funds to help combat veteran mental health issues and homelessness.

    New Hampshire is one of only a couple states in the country that directed millions of dollars from the CARES Act to help support veterans negatively impacted during the COVID-19 pandemic.

    “We and our Board are proud to be distributing 100% of these federal funds to so many New Hampshire charities and efforts that help support our veterans,” said Phil Taub, co-founder of Swim With a Mission (SWAM). “When Julie (Taub) and I started Swim with A Mission we never realized our charity would be distributing millions of dollars that will do so much to help save the lives of those who have served us all. It’s overwhelming to see the support from people in this state for our veterans.”

Ferguson of North Conway, who was killed in the line of duty during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004. Although Barb Anderson of Fryeburg, Maine, and Margi Wright of Brownfield, Maine, never met Ferguson, they will never forget him.

I put that advice into an article and received an amazing response. But now, as the “stay at home” wears on, I have more questions. So, this time I asked a Marine, a Green Beret and an Army veteran.

  • Swim With A Mission, Recovery Logistics Network Deliver Essential Protective Gear To Veterans Home

    The veterans support group Swim with a Mission handed off 140 N95 masks and gowns to help stock the NH Veterans Home with much needed equipment. The organization worked with Recovery Logistics Network to secure the equipment. Founder of RLN, Joe Matarese and SWAM board member Mark Prestipino made this donation possible by securing the PPE’s. The company has now delivered almost 3 million vital pieces of safety equipment to hospitals and organizations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Woman swims twice across Newfound Lake to kick off ‘Swim With A Mission’

    To kick off the event, Cheryl Coletti-Lawson, of Bow, swam twice across Newfound Lake for a total of 12.28 miles. Organizers said it’s believed to be the first documented double-crossing swim of the lake on record.

  • 3rd annual Swim with a Mission raises over $1 million

    The third annual Swim With a Mission event raised over $1 million for the National Navy SEAL Museum and other Veterans services in New Hampshire. The series of events took place in July, culminating with the annual swim competition and military demonstrations on Newfound Lake. This year’s events featured 30 Navy SEALs, active and retired, most who serve or served with SEAL Team 6. The SEALs were led by retired Command Master Chief Rick Kaiser and Vice Admiral Bob Harward.
